      Description

      I. Attempt/student specific quiz passwords.

When using a quizzing tool with remote proctors test passwords needs to be sent to the proctor so that the proctor can get the student into the test. We've occasionally worked with poorly trained proctors who have shared the password with the student thereby compromising test security since that student has then gone on to share the password with other students. To resolve this issue, the proctoring utility disseminates passwords that are only good for one attempt with one particular student – if the student tries to share the password with another student it wont work.

II. Disseminate passwords through the Web rather than through email.

We also run into problems when we try to distribute quiz passwords through e-mail. In order to get around the fallibility of email, our testing tool distributes test passwords to proctors through a Web interface that they access.

Is there any actual code around for this?

        I don't know of any.

I did refactor the password (and other condition like ipaddress) checking in HEAD, so implementations of bizarre policies like this will probably be easier in future. Look at mod/quiz/accessrules.php

Here is an associated quizzing security feature which I talked with Tim about at the San Francisco Moodlemoot:

In Moodle 2.2+ this could probably now be implemented as a http://docs.moodle.org/dev/Quiz_access_rules plugin.

It appears this is a dead issue, but, something along these lines would be of interest to my program. Anyone else?

As per my last comment, this is the kind of thing that should probably be done as a custom add-on, at least in the first instance.

I can still answer questions about how we do it if the Moodle community takes an interest in developing such a feature. We have a mature proctor management system in chitester.weber.edu (our own remote testing system for online education) and it helps extensively in managing the many aspects of remote proctoring.
