I. Attempt/student specific quiz passwords.
When using a quizzing tool with remote proctors test passwords needs to be sent to the proctor so that the proctor can get the student into the test. We've occasionally worked with poorly trained proctors who have shared the password with the student thereby compromising test security since that student has then gone on to share the password with other students. To resolve this issue, the proctoring utility disseminates passwords that are only good for one attempt with one particular student – if the student tries to share the password with another student it wont work.
II. Disseminate passwords through the Web rather than through email.
We also run into problems when we try to distribute quiz passwords through e-mail. In order to get around the fallibility of email, our testing tool distributes test passwords to proctors through a Web interface that they access.
