MOODLE_404_STABLE
Description:
In Moodle's current configuration, the Grader Report includes hidden items in grade calculations by default, which can lead to significant discrepancies between the grades displayed in the Grader Report and those shown in the User Report. The User Report offers an option to exclude hidden items from the total grade calculation, providing a clearer view of student progress based on visible, assessable activities only.
This discrepancy can confuse both instructors and students regarding the actual standing of a student's performance, particularly when hidden items are not intended to be included in the calculation of current grades. A consistent method to manage hidden items across both reports would simplify grade management, enhance transparency, and improve the accuracy of the grade reports presented to both educators and students.
Proposed Solution:
Implement a feature within the Gradebook settings that allows educators to opt whether hidden items should be included in the Grader Report calculations, similar to the existing option in the User Report. This would provide educators with better control over how grades are calculated and displayed, ensuring consistency across different reports and aligning with educational goals.
Impact:
This improvement would significantly aid in administrative efficiency, reduce confusion regarding grade calculations, and ensure that grades across reports are consistent, making Moodle a more robust and reliable educational tool.
