Quiz front page: state when attempts are unlimited

XMLWordPrintable

    • MOODLE_404_STABLE

Currently Moodle Quiz does not state if attempts are unlimited, only if they are limited to 1, 2, 3 attempts etc.

Unfortunately (for me at The Open University UK anyway), this causes a few queries every year where students ask non-administration staff how many times they can take the quiz, and for whatever reason the query eventually makes it way to me because of uncertainty (the query does not go via people who know or can check the settings).

But if Moodle Quiz simply stated "Attempts: Unlimited" (that is the setting, but it does not feel a very human/friendly way of saying it), this would remove the uncertainty completely.

A colleague has also pointed out that for our screen-reading users, it would be more consistent and accessible to always state the attempts.

Initial thoughts about the wording if Core agrees to show when quizzes have unlimited attempts:

      • Attempts: Unlimited. [As per setting.]
      • Attempts: Repeatable.
      • Attempts: As many as you'd like.
