[Tiles format|https://moodle.org/plugins/format_tiles] is one of the most downloaded, loved and successful plugins. It is used by many teachers in our institution and offers great features.
Still, it is not that well integrated with Moodle Core:
- It uses a different design language and behavior (corners, colors, animations, …) than the core theme.
- It is not supported by Moodle Mobile which leads to a completely different view for app users.
- Also, for example, it still does not support the table of contents introduced by Moodle 4.0.
I really think a course format similar to Tiles Format should be integrated and maintained in core Moodle as it is highly used and requested by teachers and subjectively provides a nicer and clearer overview for students in many cases.

Maybe it can even be built upon the user testing done for course hierarchy.
I’m sorry if this has been raised before, I’m still struggling with this bug tracker software as it raises so many old and (to my eyes) unrelated issues.
