Setup
- Download the attached MDL-82498.feature
. - Run the following command to create a course:
php admin/tool/generator/cli/runtestscenario.php --feature="absolute/path/to/file.feature"It might fail while creating the users if they already exist in your local instance. If that's the case, this error can be ignored.
Testing scenario 1: Emoticons in HTML settings
- Login as admin.
- Go to Site administration > Appearance > HTML settings.
- Check that the icons displayed in the emoticons table have been updated and are different from the current content in the main branch without the patch.
Testing scenario 2: Emoticons in the forum
- Login as admin.
- Go to the course "
MDL-82498". - Access "Forum name 1 > Test post subject one".
- Check the emoticons are displayed using the new icons.
Note: if any of the icons is not displayed properly, you can edit the post and paste the following code::-) :-D ;-) :-/ V-. :-P B-) ^-) 8-) :o) :-( 8-. :-I :-X 8-o P-| 8-[ xx-P |-. }-] (h) (y) (n) (martin) ( )
- Edit the post.
- Confirm the emoticons are not displayed (the equivalent text appears instead).

HQ 2024 Sprint I3.1 Moppies
In MDL-77754, the UX team has been reviewing the Font Awesome (FA) icons and deciding the best way to update them, taking advantage of the new ones in Font Awesome 6.
In MDL-82211 the icons in the moodle/pix folder have been reviewed, to align them with FontAwesome 6. However, the moodle/pix/s folder was skipped.
After discussing it with the UX team, we decided to replace these icons with the SVG files from the emoji-data library we're using in other places (like messaging), for consistency.
