Hi all,

Related to MDL-75582 here are four cases tested in Moodle 4.4:

• Two on assignment completion status and badges (cases 1 and 2), and
• Two on assignment completion status & restricted access activities and badges (cases 3 and 4)

that don’t work fine.

These are the steps for each one of them:

Case 1 (badge01)

What to do:

1. Login as a Teacher: Create an assignment with the next settings: Set a Grade to pass & Completion conditions Make a submission and Receive a grade (i.e., receive any grade)
2. Also as a Teacher: Create a badge with the only required criteria is that the assignment is marked as complete
3. Login as a Student: Make a submission for the assignment.
4. Login as a Teacher: Grade the assignment with a non-passing grade.

What is expected (as a student):

• See as Done the completion status.
• Award the related badge (badge01 in this example).

What happens:

• The completion status remains as To do and when click on the drop-down menu see:
      Make a submission (as done)
      Receive a grade (as failed)

Case 2 (badge02)

What to do:

1. Login as a Teacher: Create an assignment with the next settings: Do not set a Grade to pass & Completion conditions Make a submission and Receive a grade (i.e., receive any grade)
2. Also as a Teacher: Create a badge with the only required criteria is that the assignment is marked as complete
3. Login as a Student: Make a submission for the assignment.
4. Login as a Teacher: Grade the assignment with a non-passing grade.

What is expected (as a student):

• See as Done the completion status.
• Award the related badge (badge02 in this example).

What happens:

• The completion status is mark as Done and when click on the drop-down menu see:
      Make a submission (as done)
      Receive a grade (as done)

i.e., everything is right in this case.

Case 3 (badge03 and restricted access activity)

What to do:

1. Login as a Teacher: Create an assignment with the next settings: Set a Grade to pass & Completion conditions Make a submission and Receive a grade (i.e., receive any grade)
2. Also as a Teacher: Create a forum and set its access restriction as not available until that assignment is marked as complete.
3. Also as a Teacher: Create a badge with the only required criteria is that the assignment is marked as complete
4. Login as a Student: Make a submission for the assignment.
5. Login as a Teacher: Grade the assignment with a non-passing grade.

What is expected (as a student):

• See as Done the assignment completion status.
• See the forum as available.
• Award the related badge (badge03 in this example).

What happens:

• See the forum as not available.

Case 4 (badge04 and restricted access activity)

What to do:

3. Also as a Teacher: Create a badge with the only required criteria is that the assignment is marked as complete
4. Login as a Student: Make a submission for the assignment.
5. Login as a Teacher: Grade the assignment with a non-passing grade.

What is expected (as a student):

• See as Done the assignment completion status.
• See the forum as available.
• Award the related badge (badge04 in this example).

What happens:

• The completion status is set to Done but when click on the drop-down menu see:
      Receive a grade (as failed)
• See the forum as not available.

And the badges?, you may ask. Well, that is the point: all of them were awarded when conditions are met!

This means, to me, that wherever the badges take the activity completion information from is the right place, because no matter what the completion status button –or drop-down menu– show, the badge took the right completion status and works accordingly.

I other words, the activity completion status button –or drop-down menu– should be updated with the right information for showing the actual status and so the restricted access activity would work fine, I think.

I add four images that show these four cases that I hope make them clear.

I hope the wrong completion status and their related performance would be solved.
