Create a quiz in your course with the following settings:

Enable a time limit (e.g., 10 minutes).

Add at least one question.

2. Attempt the quiz:

On the quiz page, click "Attempt quiz".

When the pop-up appears, click "Start attempt".

3. Test navigation behavior:

Use the browser's Back button to navigate back.

4. Observe that the "Start attempt" and "Cancel" buttons are disabled.

Verify the quiz is now displayed with a 'Continue attempt' button.

Create a quiz and enable time limit, may be set it to around 10 mins and add a question. Attempt the quiz, on the pop-up click on Start attempt. Now if the user navigates back using the browser's back buttons, we see the disabled buttons for 'Start attempt' and 'Cancel'. If we close the pop-up and then click on 'Attempt quiz', we still see the pop-up buttons with disabled buttons. The workaround is to reload the page.
But, this will be confusing for the students and also we may have a question shown in their browser which is in a state that is out-of-synch with the current state on the server.
