We have a need to access any student's grading page for any activity in a course quickly and efficiently, ideally with a single click.

      The Scenario:

Students are being graded through observations in class (or workshop) environment. The educator may be using a laptop or tablet, and needs to quickly navigate to grade any assessment an individual may be working on or completing.

While the link to activity from the Gradebook is OK, the educator still needs to select grading (or view all grades) and then select the student. With many students and groups, they'll also need to filter to even find the student again, despite having relevant filters already selected in the Gradebook Grader Report. It's just not practical.

The educator needs to jump to different students and different assessments at any time.

      The Improvement:

Enable the Gradebook Grader Report so that an educator can click on any result (blank or otherwise) and go directly to the grading page.

Many assessments use Rubrics, allowing the educator to fill in the grading details and return to the Grader Report. The grading page should open in a new window/tab that can be closed to still have the Grader Report (and requisite links) available to access other grading pages.

Even if this was available only for Assignments, the activity used for most assessments, this would still be a huge boon to being able to use Moodle on portable devices, particularly in non-typical classroom environments such as workshops or out in the field.

Of course this would need to work side by side with grade overrides, which in our case would discourage or disable due to the lack of detail and audit trail.

      Solutions:
The obvious path is to implement mod/assign/grade.php as a handler for the "grade analysis" link from the gradebook. How feasible it is to get into the grader via that route is another story though.
