- Log in as admin and go to Site administration / Messaging / Notification settings.
- Check that for 'Assignment notifications', web is permitted, with nothing ticked, and email is permitted with online and offline both ticked.
- Check that for 'Personal messages between users', email is permitted, with offline ticked.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and save changes.
- Log out then log in as user1, select Preferences in the user menu then follow the link 'Notification preferences' and check that for 'Assignment notifications', web online and offline are both off, and email online and offline are both on.
- Change 'Assignment notifications' via the web to On for offline.
- Select Preferences in the user menu then follow the link 'Notification preferences' and check that Email is on for Assignment notifications.
- Log in as admin again, go to Site administration / Messaging / Notification settings and make the following changes
- for 'Assignment notifications', select locked for email.
- for 'Feedback notifications', select disallowed for email.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and save changes.
- Log in again as user1, go to 'Notification preferences' and check that for 'Assignment notifications' via email it is no longer possible to select on or off and instead the word 'Locked' is displayed.
- Check that for 'Assignment notifications' via web, online is off and offline is on (as set previously).
- Go to 'Feedback notifications' and check that in the 'Notification preferences' section 'Email' it is no longer possible to select on or off and instead the word 'Disallowed' is displayed.
- Log in as user2, go 'Notification preferences' and check that for 'Assignment notifications' via the web, online and offline are both off, and via email are locked.
