A student can display forum replies in experimental nested form

    Description

      This is an exploratory test of a new feature or improvement, so please feel free to try anything you like and not just the test steps!

      Test requirements:

      • A course containing at least two forums with ratings enabled and display word count set to yes.
      • At least one forum should contain several discussions with posts from several users including at least one private reply.
      • Posts should include some with an image, a non-image file attachment, tags and ratings.

       The Lounge on the QA testing site may be used for running this test.

      Test steps:

      1. Log in as a student, go to your forum preferences, set 'Use experimental nested discussion view' to Yes and save changes.
      2. Go to a forum and view a discussion.
      3. Check that replies are displayed in experimental nested form.
      4. Check that all features display correctly including post date and time, subject, message, attachments, tags, ratings, word count and any private replies.
      5. Check that replies are indented nicely.
      6. Check that the permalink and show parent links work as expected.
      7. Try replying to a post and check that the reply is displayed correctly.
      8. Open the settings drawer and check that all options work as expected.
      9. Log out then log in as a teacher and, as for the student, set 'Use experimental nested discussion view' to Yes in your forum preferences.
      10. Go to a forum and view a discussion.
      11. Check that replies are displayed in experimental nested form.
      12. Check that all features display correctly including post date and time, subject, message, attachments, tags, ratings, word count and any private replies.
      13. Check that the options edit, split and delete work as expected.
      14. Try replying privately to a post and check that the reply is displayed correctly.
      15. Open the settings drawer and check that the additional options for teachers work as expected.
