New activity cards design exploratory testing

      This is an exploratory test of a new feature or improvement, so please feel free to try anything you like and not just the test steps!

      Please use the attached screenshot as a reference for the new UI elements.

      Availability of activities can be changed using the new drop-downs

      If you are using your local site for this test, please enable "Allow stealth activities (allowstealth)" setting in Site administration > Advanced features

      1. As a teacher, go to the New design for activity cards! course on the QA site and turn edit mode on.
      2. On the action menu (three dots on the right) for the 'Assignment' select the 'Availability >' option.
      3. Confirm you could see a subpanel (new submenu) with 3 options: 'Show on course page','Hide on course page' and 'Make available but don’t show on course page'.
      4. Click on Hide on course page.
      5. Confirm you could see a new grey dropdown with Hidden from students named on it below the name of the activity.
      6. Click on this drop-down and confirm you could see a dropdown with the same options in the step 3 but with 'Hide on course page' selected.
      7. Choose 'Make available but don’t show on the course page' option.
      8. Confirm you could see below the activity name the availability drop-down with Available but not shown on the course page named on it.
      9. On the action menu select 'Availability >' and choose Show on course page.
      10. Confirm you could see the activity name without any drop-down below it.

      Group mode of activities can be changed using the group mode icon

      1. Back to the 'New design for activity cards!' course page verify you can see the group mode icon on the side next to the action menu.
      2. If you click on it (on the group icon) you should see a drop down with 3 options: No groups, Separate groups and Visible groups.
        • The visible groups mode should be selected.
      3. Click on the group icon and select ‘No groups’ option on the drop-down.
      4. Confirm if you don’t hover the mouse in the activity you don’t see any group icon.
      5. Confirm if you hover the mouse in the activity you could see a group icon for 'No groups'. 
      6. If you mouse over the 'No groups' icon, you could click on it and see the drop-down with the same option of the step 2 and 'No groups' option selected.
      7. Click on 'Separate groups' and confirm you could see the separate group icon before the action menu.

      The completion criteria of activities can be changed using the new drop-down

      1. Back to the 'New design for activity cards!' course page 
      2. Confirm you could see a new drop-down button before the action menu.
      3. Click on it, confirm you could see the completion criteria:
        • “View” displayed in green with a green tick on the left.
        • “Make a submission”
        • “Receive a grade”
      4. Confirm you could see an 'Edit conditions' link with a pencil icon.
      5. Click on this link. Confirm you could see only the 'Activity completion' form of the activity settings form.
      6. Disable 'Students must receive a grade to complete this activity' and save it.
      7. Back to the course click on the drop down button close to the action menu named 'To do' and confirm you could see two options there (View and Make a submission).
         

        Students can see the completion criteria of my activities using the new drop-downs

      8. Log in as a student and go to the 'New design for activity cards!' course
      9. Confirm you could see the two assignments with two completion buttons.
      10. Confirm the 'Assignment with completion enabled' has a 'To do' drowpdown button.
      11. Click on it, verify you see the completion conditions.
      12. Confirm the 'Assignment with manual completion' has a 'Mark as done' button.
      13. Click on it and confirm the button is displayed in green 'Done' with a green tick before the name.
      14. Go to  'Assignment with completion enabled', add a submission and go back to the course.
      15. Confirm on the 'Assignment with completion enabled' you could see on the right the completion drop-down displayed in green named 'Done' and if you click you could see the completion conditions displayed in green with a green tick close to it.
         

        As a Teacher, I can see the access restriction of my activities and edit from the activity card

      16. Log in as a teacher and go back to the 'New design for activity cards!' course page 
      17. Confirm you see a gray box with the restrictions below the Opened and Due dates on the 'Assignment with restrictions'.
      18. Confirm you see 'Show more' action on the right and you could click on it. If you click on it, confirm you could expand the box and see all the restrictions defined and see Show less action on the right. 
      19. Confirm you could collapse and expand the restrictions using Show less and Show more action.
      20. Confirm you could see the ‘Edit settings’ link below the restrictions and with a pencil icon on the right.
      21. If you click on the ‘Edit settings’ link confirm you could see the Restrict access form.
      22. Back to the course and switch off the edit mode.
      23. Confirm you could expand and collapse the restrictions without seeing the 'Edit settings' link.
      24. Login as a student and go to the course.
      25. Confirm you could see the restrictions with the Show more action on the right.
      26. Confirm you could expand and collapse the restrictions.

      Users can see the badge information of the activities in order to identify the details of it

      This test requires a forum with at least one post and "Forum tracking" setting to be enabled in user preferences.

      1. Confirm you could see the PDF file extension  in the 'Principles of Universal Design' activity card displayed near the activity name with a transparent background.
      2. Confirm the file size and the file updated date are displayed at the bottom of the file activity card on the course page.
      3. Login as student and access to the course.
      4. Confirm the "X unread post(s)" badge in the forum activity card on the main course page is displayed near the activity name with a black background.
      5. Confirm the file extension (for example, PDF) in the file activity card on the main course page is displayed near the activity name, with a transparent background.
      6. Confirm the file size and the file updated date are displayed at the bottom of the file activity card on the course page.
      7. Access to the file.
      8. Confirm the size, file extension and date are displayed in the same line, with a "·" between them.
