This test requires admin access. If you would like to use the the QA testing site for running this test, please see the QA testing guide for details of how to request admin access. Begin just after the hourly reset to give yourself plenty of time to complete the test!

Please note: that some activities like SCORM and H5P just index the title and not the content and it might not be visible on the search results, see MDL-76260.

This test also requires a course containing at least one activity.

1. Log in as admin and enable global search in 'Advanced features' in the Site administration.
2. Go to 'Manage global search' in the Site administration and make sure the search engine is set to 'Simple search'.
3. Go to 'Search areas' in the Site administration and click the button 'Update indexed contents'.
4. In the search box (at the top of any page), type the name of the activity and press enter.
5. Verify that the activity is listed in the search results.
6. Go back to 'Search areas' and disable the search area for the activity.
7. Try agan to search for the name of the activity.
8. Verify that the activity is now NOT listed in the search results.
9. Go back to 'Search areas' and re-enable the search area for the activity.
10. Try agan to search for the name of the activity.
11. Verify that the activity is once again listed in the search results.
12. Go back to 'Search areas' and delete the index for the activity.
13. Try agan to search for the name of the activity.
14. Verify that the activity is once again NOT listed in the search results.
