This is an exploratory test of a new feature or improvement, so please feel free to try anything you like and not just the test steps!

We encourage all testers to share their experiences and insights, even if a test has already been assigned. Your contributions are valuable and help improve the overall testing process.

Setup

Kindly note that the QA site is now ready for testing the new feature. If you're conducting this test on the QA site, you can skip this setup section.

1. As admin, go to Site administration > Activity modules > Manage activities and enable Subsection module.
2. Create a new course with several activities or restore the one attached to this issue
3. Enrol a student and a teacher in the course.

Testing

1. As teacher go to the Gremlins at sections course and turn edit mode on.
2. Add a new subsection called "General" using the + icon:
   
3. Hide the subsection "General"
4. As student, confirm you cannot see the "General" subsection.
5. As teacher, turn edit mode on and confirm you can unhide the "General" subsection.
6. Add another subsection called "Subsection 2" to a different course section and add some activities or resources to that new subsection.
7. Hide the course section where you added the "Subsection 2"
8. Confirm that "Subsection 2" and activities in that subsection are hidden.
9. Unhide the course section and confirm that "Subsection 2" is shown.
10. Hide the "Subsection 2". Now, hide and unhide the course section.
11. Confirm that "Subsection 2" remains hidden from the students.
12. Edit settings of the first subsection "General" and add a restriction, for instance a date restriction.
13. Confirm you can see the restriction description in the subsection "General" and you can see the lock icon close to the name of the subsection and in the course index.
14. As student confirm you can see the description of the restriction of the subsection "General".
15. Confirm you can expand and collapse the description of the restriction and you cannot see the activities inside.
16. Confirm you can see the lock icon close to the name of the subsection "General" in the course index.
17. As teacher remove the restriction using the "Edit restriction" link.
18. Confirm the restriction has been removed.
