      Description

Martin - For folks that have finished up migrating their CONTRIB code to 2.0, I would like to start a clean (i.e. empty) MOODLE_20_STABLE branch. We can keep the basic structure of plugins and patches. I'd like to keep the 2.0 branch as clean/empty as possible so that we can keep track of what code is still in contrib that is actually 2.0 code. Would you mind setting that up. I'm a little hesitant to make changes since the move to Git and don't want to mess up anything behind the scenes. Peace - Anthony

        Ho Anthony,

what is the meaning of "start a clean (i.e. empty) MOODLE_20_STABLE branch.

Any branch, in CVS, in git, branches from one point, so its initial contents are 100x100 the ones actually in HEAD (for CVS) or master (for git).

If you want to start an empty structure that will require to create a new (CVS, git) repository or something like that, but there is no way to "start a clean branch".

        Thoughts?

After further thought, it is best to be consistent with CVS and just create the 2.0 branch off of head as you indicated and then encourage folks to create Git repositories and export to CVS for 2.0. I was thinking of how to clean up but in this case, I think just keeping things simple and consistent is best. Peace - Anthony

So, then, just for confirmation, it's ok if I perform the:

        cvs tag -b MOODLE_20_STABLE

against the whole contrib dir (http://cvs.moodle.org/contrib/)

        Yup?

Do you recall if there was anything else that we would do when creating branches? I feel like at one point there was a checklist of items when creating a new branch that should happen. I know we are OK in the tracker but just wanting to make sure we don't overlook something else. These things sore of just happened automagically (i.e. someone just made sure they happened and I never had to really think about it much). Peace - Anthony

p.s. - Feel free to re-assign to yourself and mark as resolved once the branch is committed.

Done, after chat with Anthony, the MOODLE_20_STABLE branch has been created for the whole contrib directory.

        Resolving as fixed...ciao

Eloy - Does anything need to be done to get the download files for the 2.0 stable branch of contrib code to generate? For example,
        http://download.moodle.org/download.php/plugins19/blocks/mrbs.zip works just fine; however,
http://download.moodle.org/download.php/plugins20/blocks/mrbs.zip does not seem to be working. Peace - Anthony
