      Description

The notifications functionality still needs to be implemented.
This involves integrating the plugin with the messaging API to send notifications for things such as the following:

      • A new plugin has been added. (User option)
      • A new version of a selected plugin has been released. (Selectable when viewing a plugin)
      • A new version of a downloaded plugin has been release. (User option)
      • A comment has been added to a plugin I have commented on (Option at time of commenting)
      • A comment has been added to a plugin I am a contributor for (Plugin option)

Also: plugin is changed (maybe useful in case of several contributors and/or to notify contributor when plugin is approved)

That would be awesome to receive alert when People post comment on our plugins

Can this be bumped up the list a bit please? It's incredibly frustrating for both the users and me to have their urgent issues go unaddressed for days or weeks because I don't realise that anything is wrong. People seem to be using the comments page for bugs and support requests rather than the tracker so this is quite an issue for me.

I agree that this needs to be a priority (currently set to major) and would greatly benefit plugin developers in responding to questions, issues, etc. as comments are made. Peace - Anthony

bumping to critical for visibility. also this is 'critical' for plugin developers to provide on going support .

ps: really, we should add 'loss in efficiency' to the definition of 'critical'.

Looks like a string isn't being given the link it needs:

"Thank you for your plugin submission, Engagement analytics is now available for
          download: {$a->viewlink}"

It seems that the comment notifications have a strange side effect: a message appears in the Messages system containing the first few words of the comment. This does NOT trigger an extra email - only the correct comment notification email is being sent. I've attached a couple of screenshots showing one such phantom message - comment.png shows the comment in question, and messages.php shows the phantom message (and the start of an actual message). This has happened twice for me so far, on separate plugins and with different people commenting.

(I was going to set up a separate ticket for this, but then I realised that this one is still open and active - if there's a preference for it to be a separate ticket, I'm happy to go ahead and create a new one for it.)

Thanks Paul. Hm, i'm guessing i might have to have two different messages, one for html (with br tags) and one for plain email (with /n).

(Yes, i'm happy to have these issues handled in here for now, notification will surely be improved, just thought i'd get some basic functionality out there for now. perhaps issues could be in subtasks if they come in a flurry, hoping not!)

ok, i've fixed that truncation up. i've also raised MDL-34991 with a patch that should do a text_to_html() on these comments as currently these notifications show up in one line.

next, a simple subscription to follow other plugins..
