Currently only a few dropdown menu items have tool tips. Perhaps the tooltips suggested in MDLSITE-659 could be added to the lang file.

Following a chat with Eloy, I tested lang editing of moodle.org.php on Windows. Everything appeared fine, so I've renamed moodle_org.php back to moodle.org.php and added it to CVS.

          Hi,

I did the German translation for the Moodle site. It looks great now and I hope that everybody will get most of his informations from the site.

There is still one fact that should be change. On the page "Recent Participnts" you get tool tips about the person which is shown by the picture "Ralf from Deutschland", "Helen from Belgien", "Peter from Schweiz", "Mike from Niederlande" .... The name is the correct first name of the person and the country is translated into the local language of the user who is logged in ... in my case its German. The middle part of the tool tip is "from" and not German. It would be better to put this word also into the word list of moodle.org.php.

In the German case I could not translate the word "from" as "aus" ... in German the examples would be "Ralf aus Deutschland" (correct), "Helen aus Belgien" (correct), but "Peter aus Schweiz" (incorrect) and Mike aus Niederlande" (incorrect) ... the last both should be "Peter aus der Schweiz" and "Mike aus den Niederlanden". So I would translate the word "from" into "-" because "Ralf - Deutschland", "Helen - Belgien", "Peter - Schweiz" and "Mike - Niederlande" would be correct.

Another idea for the tool tip would be to change the string into two lines but I don't know if this will work.

          Another thing ....

if I switch the language to German and I choose "Übersicht > Was ist Moodle?" then I would like to get the German page "Was ist Moodle?" from the Moodle Docs ... but I get the English wiki page http://docs.moodle.org/en/About_Moodle

The German page exists with the URL http://docs.moodle.org/de/Was_ist_Moodle%3F ... it's linked on the left side of the English wiki page ... please see the block "Other languages"

          Another suggestion for improvement:

Use the same dropdown menus (About, News, Support, ...) for Moodle Docs and the Tracker as well as for moodle.org.

          Helen,

For the sake of clarity, I think it might be good to close this issue as fixed. There are other ideas which I think should be separate issues. The main issue resolved by this was creating the moodle.org.php language file. Ideas for better linking to Docs, the menus, etc. should probably be their own separate issues. I'll leave this to you to resolve since it is assigned to you. I was trying to clean up some of the older issues pertaining to Moodle.org so that the current list reflects what is currently need on Moodle.org now that it is running Moodle 2.0.

          Peace - Anthony
