      For phase 2.

After the moodle.org redesign launch we should do an accessibility audit of the new design. Ideally this should be done in advance, but we don't have the resources / time left for this as we are aiming to launch in October.

As part of this I suggest we:

      1. create an accessibility statement for the site that is linked in the footer like the one on Moodle.Academy.
      2. Do our own initial assessment using open source accessibility checking tools like the WAVE accessibility checker to identify key issues and raise tickets to resolve each issue found. federico.astorga@moodle.com - is this something you could help with? Testing the hypothesis that moodle.org is accessible?
      3. Consider whether we get an external company to do an accessibility audit (after the above initial actions are completed internally for the sake of speed).

We should be checking things like:

      • colour contrast
      • text size
      • text readability (line length etc) - now also font, as we have a serif font as part of the corporate style guide.
      • alt text
      • tab order*
      • keyboard only access*
      • screen reading*

*For default Moodle features we can be confident of their accessibility in terms of keyboard access / tab order / screen reading access, due to the accessibility checks done for Moodle LMS, but where we have made modifications (front page, get involved page, plugins directory, AMOS, stats) we should be concentrating on checking these, as well as making sure anything we've added content wise (to footer's etc.) are accessible - e.g. the top 3 points listed above.
