Mobile: Sort courses by short name.

    • Hide

      Case 1:  Check "Sort by Short Name"hidden when Moodle website prevented.

      • From the Moodle website, make sure that options "Display extended course names (courselistshortnames)" is off.
      • Open Moodle Website by the App, check that "Sort by Short Name"  is hidden.

       

      Case 2:  Check "Sort by Short Name" only visible when Moodle website allowed.

      • From the Moodle website, make sure that options "Display extended course names (courselistshortnames)" is on.
      • Open Moodle Website by the App, check that "Sort by Short Name"  is visible.

       

      Case 3: Check "Sort by Short Name" feature is working:

      • From the Moodle website, make sure  "Display extended course names (courselistshortnames)" is on.
      • Create the following Course with Short name (<Fullname>/<Shortname>): Course1/C1, Course2/A, Course3/C3.
      • Choose "Sort by Short Name" from the dropdown
      • Check to make sure that the course is sorted by short name (Course2 - Course 1 - Course 3)

       

      Case 4: Check the app reset back to "Sort by Full Name" when Moodle website's config changed:

      • After performing "Case 3", switch to Moodle website and turn "Display extended course names (courselistshortnames)" off.
      • Back to the app and refresh current page.
      • Check the "Sort by Short Name" is hidden, "Sort by Full name" is checked and the course list sorted correctly (Course1 - Course2 - Course3)

      In our university, we name our course's short title by convention that make us easier to find and manage.
       
      On the module home dashboard in the app, courses are sorted by full name by default, and users have the option to sort by last accessed.
       
      But having watch staff and students navigate the dashboard when there are lots of modules on there, it's clear that they don't actually know the full title of most courses, and that they refer to them by the course short name.
