Current discussion sortType is 'nested' but the user can change it and then it always uses the latest sortType (every device has it's configuration).

If forum_displaymode is set on user preferences it will use it as a fallback but many times is not set because we cannot get $CFG->forum_displaymode. We should add this fallback.
