The last module viewed feature can cause some confusion with navigation, specially when the user navigates between activites (without going back to the course). We should review it and decide if we want to keep it like this or we want to change it.
Some of the things we noticed:
- An activity is only marked as last viewed if you open its index page. If you open another page (e.g. a glossary term) then the activity is not marked as the last module viewed.
- Going back to an activity (using the back button at the top) doesn't mark this activity as the last viewed. This causes the following behaviour:
-
- User opens course in section 1, which contains activity A.
- User opens activity A, it's now marked as the last viewed.
- Activity A has a link to activity B, which is in section 2.
- The user clicks the link to activity B, which is now marked as the last module viewed. This also changes the section loaded in the course, which is changed to section 2.
- The user clicks the back button, so he goes back to activity A. But this doesn't change the last module viewed, it's still activity B.
- The user goes back to the course, he sees section 2 now instead of section 1.
